Survey on chronic pain and recurrent pain complaints in childhood

Please see attached letter from the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research and Department of Pediatric Anesthesia, IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University:

Dear Colleague,

Chronic pain and recurrent pain are common complaints in childhood. To date, there is no standard medical testing that is diagnostic of chronic pain, and labels used to describe this pain vary.

Our research will use a vignette to examine the influence of different diagnostic chronic pain labels on healthcare providers’ perceptions of chronic pain. This may help us to better understand how patients with chronic pain are viewed by healthcare providers.

If you work with children on a regular basis, we invite you to take part in a study about healthcare providers’ perceptions of pediatric chronic pain patients. Your involvement in the study will include participating in one short (approximately 10-15 minute) online survey.
